I Love my Coach House Garage Because...

We bought our English Tudor home (built in 1929) in an older established neighborhood. I loved the house, but hated that it had a 1950’s addition with a single carport. My dream was to tear down the carport and add a two car garage with much needed attic storage.

Luckily, there was a vacant lot next to our home, and we were able to purchase enough footage to allow for a two car garage.

We had definite ideas for our two car garage to be. It had to be attached to the house and have much needed attic storage. The color had to be a brown, which would blend with the brick on our house. We wanted the over-head doors to be dark, with windows for interior light and yet blend with our house style. But most of all, I did not want it to look like a new addition to the house. We began getting estimates, but most of them would wipe out our budget and not give us what we wanted.

My husband suggested Coach House Garages. My reply was, “While the ones I have seen are attractive, they do not attach them to the house and they only build white ones.” Without my knowledge, my husband Bob went to see Dave Schrock out of the Mattoon office. I drove home one day to see this young man walking around our property. He introduced himself and made an appointment to meet with us. When the appointment came, he looked over our plans and desires. He explained what Coach House could and could not do. I was astonished to see all the choices Dave offered us. He had samples of siding, roofing and garage doors, with an array of colors and styles. He gave us addresses and names of other clients, so we could verify the quality of your garages. Mr. Schrock was informative and pleasant to work with. He gave us a price, which we felt was reasonable, and did not break the bank. With that we signed the contract. He also made us feel comfortable that it would more than meet our requests.

We also found out what a hard worker Mr. Schrock was as he tore down our old carport, in preparation for the new garage. Although the weather did not cooperate with our starting date, it finally dried up enough to pour the floor. The day finally arrived to build the garage. Although the weather did not cooperate with our starting date, it finally dried up enough to pour the floor. The day finally arrived to build the garage. It was an incredible sight to watch. The builders arrived at 7:00 AM and by 7:45 the framing walls were up. It drew much attention from our neighbors and passers by. Each worker knew exactly what his job was without any wasted time. In just two days (it takes longer when you attach to a house and add an attic) my dream was a reality. Friends and neighbors began gathering on our new driveway. The first words out of their mouths were how great it looked and how fast it was built. They loved the color and how well it went with our house. In fact they said, “It looks as though it has always been here and blends perfectly with our house.” With that my dream came true and that is why…I Love My Coach House Garage!!
